Glorious history

    Since the predecessor of the school, "National Taipei Institute of Technology", Mechatronics and mechanical technology has been the full research focus in Taipei Tech for many years. After school’s restructuring, the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (CMEE) has established the departments of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, electronic engineering, refrigeration and air-conditioning engineering, and vehicles engineering. The CMEE also establishes nine graduate institutes such as mechatronics integration, computer communication and control, electrical engineering and energy, refrigeration and cryogenic technology, manufacturing technology, optoelectronics, vehicle engineering, information engineering, and automation technology.

To integrate the research of photoelectric and automation technology, it is equipped with another photoelectric center, automation center and precision instrument center in the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, and there is a clean room (class 100 and 10000) shared by all departments in CMEE. In addition, in order to provide students with the integrated courses related to electrical and mechanical technology, the CMEE has established four interdisciplinary programs, including automation program, semiconductor program, optoelectronics program and energy engineering program for students to study. After completing the program courses, they will receive a course certificate which is a big plus among industry.

Therefore, the electrical and mechanical technology education in Taipei Tech has a solid foundation for teaching and research equipment. In addition, the research and development capabilities related to electrical and mechanical technology have been based on the development of practical technology for many years. The R&D level of practical technology also has a solid foundation. The research is closely integrated with the development of the industry. The foundation of mechanical technology has already existed. The College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering aims to develop the R&D and cultivate doctoral personnel based on the existing foundation. Other than cultivating and training the students to study advanced motor and mechanical science and technology talents for the country; Also, through the trainings of PhD students, the research capabilities of the various departments of the CMEE will be elevated to a higher level.

Outstanding future

     Since the development of electrical and mechanical technology, in addition to the vertical development of various fields, there is also a horizontal and close integration, such as the precision control of machinery, the automation and optimization of manufacturing processes, the design of comfort and safety of vehicles, and electricity load monitoring and management, MEMS development and application, refrigeration air conditioning system energy application efficiency, sensor development and application, wired and wireless communication system performance enhancement, microelectronics and optoelectronic system design and application, and computer integration with industrial technology. etc., All of fields mentioned above is related to the electromechanical engineering.

The PhD program of the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering focuses on keeping pace with the trend of integration of motor and machinery technology in the 21st century. In addition to the development of electrical and mechanical technology, the research fields of the CMEE will develop in the direction of compatibility with other technologies in the field of electromechanical technology integrating with machinery and motors. Technology in electronics, vehicles, air conditioners, cryogenic technology, optoelectronics, information engineering, automation technology, and manufacturing technology, etc., has become the focus of research and development of integrated electromechanical precision technology in Taiwan. We also expect the CMEE could be the talent cultivation center.

  • Close cooperation with industry, and the research results can support industrial development.
  •  Establish “corporate day” and “business forum”, and invite MVPs from the industry, government, and academia to guide the CMEE.
  •  Establish CMEE corporate partners for industry cooperation and resource development.
  •  Provide opportunities with in-service training for the industry all year round, seven days a week.
  •  Extend the education throughout Taiwan.

Teaching features:

The Ministry of Education has actively promoted the ubiquitous RF identification course and course by setting up the e-RFID promotion office. 

  • Establish the curriculum committee in CMEE, CMEE will hire external members from the industry, and gradually integrate the teaching and experiment related courses and laboratories of the college.
  • Establish Dean’s List Honor award to encourage students to study hard. Encourage students to set up academic societies and build up practical talents.
  • Each graduate institute establishes a joint curriculum to share teaching resources.
  • Organize the “CMEE Month” every year to bring together students' focus on the school and foster creativity and teamwork.
  • Course evaluation of both full-time and part-time teacher every semester.
  • The teachers are all from top universities in Taiwan and abroad. More than half of the teachers should come from the famous universities worldwide. The teachers should be young and energetic.

  • Cooperate with the trend development, focusing on the research and development of practical technology, with particular emphasis on the development of machinery and equipment, such as rapid prototyping machines, microwave jet CVD plasma equipment and top advanced technologies.
